Utley Burrell Go Deep, Kendrick Struggles in Win

The Philadelphia Phillies bats came alive as the team scored 8 runs
including two homeruns by Chase Utley and one by Pat Burrell. For Utley it was his 100th career homerun.

The team
manufactured 2 of the runs which is something the team has been
criticized for not doing in the past. They are definitely moving
runners over better than they have in the past.

Kyle Kendrick was shaky but battled through 5 plus innings giving up 4
runs. Kendrick did not have good command of his pitches and looked much
like the pitcher he was in Spring Training. Ryan_madson
He did give his team a chance to win the game and never gave up the lead his team gave him in the first inning.

He was not able to go deep in a game where the bullpen was short with
Tom Gordon being unavailable and Charlie Manual trying to avoid using
Chad Durbin in a fourth consecutive game.

Ryan Madson came in the game in relief in the sixth inning to bail
Kendrick out of trouble and pitched 2 scoreless innings. It was good to
see Madson effective and it gives Phillies fans hope that Ryan can be Jc_romero
a key contributor in the bullpen.

Rudy Seanez pitched a scoreless eighth and has been a good addition for
the team in his first two outings. Hopefully he will be the pitcher he
was with the Dodgers last year and not the pitcher he was this Spring.

J.C. Romero came in to pitch the ninth and had a one two three inning.
What a great job he has done in the early part of the season!

The Phillies are at .500 after 4 games this year. It took 40 games last
year to get to this mark. Just remember it is one game at a time that
leads to winning a pennant but I can not remember when the Phillies had
a two game winning streak in the first week of April!
