With two outs in the ninth, the Philadelphia Phillies beat the San
Fransisco Giants in dramatic style for the second time in 3 days. With
two out in the ninth, Ryan Howard and Pat Burrell walked and Geoff
Jenkins hit a ball that got past second base. Ryan Howard chugged
around home and scored on an error for the win.

Cole Hamels pitched ok today although the long ball haunted him as he
gave up 4 runs. Hamels did end up striking out 5 and walked none but he
gave up 7 hits in only 6 innings of work.

The
Phillies offense took advantage by scoring 5 unearned runs. The bats
are still not where they should as Charlie Manual said in his post game
press conference but it is only a matter of time before this team
scores runs by the bunch.

The
Phillies will remain in first place. The Florida Marlins kept pace
beating the Padres and the Phillies will now cheer on Dan Haren as he
tries to beat Johan Santana and the New York Mets.

The Phillies continue to play inspired baseball battling back and
playing hard. The key for the Phillies is to go into Arizona and win 2
out of 3. This will be a tall order against one of baseballs best games
teams but this Phillies team has stepped up all year. The other good
news is that Jimmy Rollins should return to the team for the third game
on Thursday. I would really love to see the team in first place when
Jimmy returns.
